Pre-Engineering Students

Students in pre-engineering who are pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree need to complete specific course and grade requirements and follow certain procedures in order to be admitted to an engineering curriculum. There are also enrollment restrictions for students in the pre-engineering program. The enrollment restrictions and the procedures and requirements for admission to an engineering curriculum are listed here.

Remember, the faculty advisors and staff of the College Advising and Admissions Office will answer any questions you may have.


Enrollment Restrictions
As a student in the pre-engineering program, you will not be permitted to enroll in any course at the 300 level or above that is required in any of the engineering curricula offered by the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences. Only students who have been admitted to an engineering curriculum will be permitted to take upper-division engineering courses.

Procedures for Admission to an Engineering Curriculum
In order to be considered for admission to an engineering curriculum, you must do the following:
1. Apply for admission by completing the application for admission to the specific engineering curriculum during a meeting with your academic advisor. You will want to apply for admission when you are enrolled in the final two or three courses required to complete the pre-engineering curriculum.
2. The deadlines for applying are:
March 2* For consideration for Spring Session admission
March 2* For consideration for Summer Session admission
March 2* For consideration for Fall Semester admission
November 2* For consideration for Winter Semester admission
