College of Engineering and Applied Sciences Endowed Scholarship

Eligibility Criteria:
  • Admitted to Western Michigan University as a degree-seeking freshman entering in the fall semester.
  • Admitted to an ABET accredited, undergraduate degree program at WMU.

  • Resident of the State of Michigan.

  • Citizen of the United States.
The awards will be made on a competitive basis. The top candidate from the pool will be awarded a scholarship based on appropriateness of high school courses in preparation for engineering education at WMU, admission GPA, and ACT scores.

Award amount:
$1,000 per academic year for each of the four years, non-renewable. Awarded to two or three new freshman annually.

Criteria for Continuance:

  • Enrolled as a full-time student (minimum of 12 semester hours fall and winter semesters)

  • Enrolled in an ABET accredited, undergraduate degree program at WMU.

  • Maintain a 2.5 overall GPA on a 4.0 scale.

Applications:
Applicants are encouraged to apply through SAE. The application deadline is December 1 for candidates entering as freshmen the following Fall Semester. Eligibility Criteria:

  • Enrolled as a full-time student (minimum of 12 credit hours)

  • Completion of enough semester hours of course work to be classified at least at the sophomore level (at least 26 semester hours)

  • Enrolled in a four-year degree program in the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences.

  • Have accumulated a minimum of 12 semester hours at WMU.

Award amount:
$250 - $500 for fall and winter semesters (non-renewable)

Applications:
Applications are available in the College Advising Office, Room E102 Parkview Campus, September 1 and are due September 30.


George E. Kohrman Scholarship


Eligibility Criteria:

  • Admitted to WMU as a degree-seeking student, completing the final year of his or her bachelor’s degree in one of the curricula within the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences.

  • Enrolled in one of the curricula in the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences and a senior at the time the award is granted.

  • Attained a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 in all course work approved in meeting the requirement of senior status.

  • Citizen of the United States.

  • Seniors are selected by the College of Engineering and Applied Science Scholarship Committee based primarily on scholarship. Other factors which may be considered are demonstrated leadership ability, participation in community and school activities, financial need and special aptitudes in the technological area of the college.

Award Amount:
$1,500, one-half the amount to be paid at the beginning of the fall semester and the remainder to be paid at the beginning of the winter semester. Not renewable.

Applications are due March 1 and are available in the college Advising Office, Room E102 Parkview Campus.




Eligibility Criteria:

  • Full- or part-time graduate or undergraduate student enrolled in the engineering curriculums of the CEAS.

  • Undergraduate applicants must have a minimum 3.25 GPA or above in all enrolled courses including repeated courses, demonstrated leadership within the college, and a commitment to their profession.

  • Undergraduate applicants must meet requirements for advancement to upper division course.

  • Graduate candidates will be selected by individual departments.
Award Amount:
Up to $5,000 per year. Renewable for onetime.

Criteria for Continuance:
  • Enrolled in an engineering curriculum in the CEAS.
  • Undergraduates must maintain a minimum 3.25 GPA or above in all enrolled courses including repeated courses.
  • Graduates must maintain a minimum 3.25 GPA and provide a letter of support from their research advisor documenting satisfactory research progress.

Applications:
Awards are made in April solely on the basis of recommendations from departments in the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences.
